Privacy Policy

RedirectChecker ("we", "us", "the service") is a free tool for tracking URL redirects and HTTP status codes. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and how we handle it. If anything is unclear, email mail@abhinavvasudevan.com.

1. Data we collect

a) When you check a URL

• The URL you submit and the full redirect chain we discover.
• Your IP address, used for rate limiting and abuse prevention.
• Timestamp of the check.

URL checks are stored so they can be shared via permanent result links. They are not linked to your identity unless you are signed in and explicitly save the check.

b) When you create an account (optional)

• Name and email address.
• A hashed password (we never store it in plain text).
• Session data, including IP address and user agent for each active session, used to detect suspicious sign-ins.
• Redirect checks you choose to save to your dashboard.

c) Analytics and performance

We use the following third-party services to understand usage and keep the site fast:

• Vercel Analytics — privacy-friendly traffic analytics. No cross-site tracking.
• Vercel Speed Insights — real-user performance metrics.
• Google Tag Manager — used to load measurement tags for SEO and product analytics.

2. How we use your data

• To provide the redirect checking service and render result pages.
• To authenticate you and keep your account secure.
• To prevent abuse, SSRF attempts, and excessive traffic.
• To understand aggregate usage and improve the product.

We do not sell your data. We do not run ad networks. We do not share data with third parties except the service providers listed above, and only as needed to operate the service.

3. Cookies

We use cookies for authentication sessions and analytics. See the Cookie Policy for details.

4. Data retention

• URL checks: retained indefinitely so shared links continue to work. Email us to request deletion of a specific check.
• Account data: retained for the life of your account. Deleting your account removes your profile, sessions, and saved checks.
• Server logs and analytics: retained per the providers' default retention windows.

5. Your rights

Depending on where you live (GDPR, CCPA, and similar laws), you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete the personal data we hold about you. To exercise any of these rights, email mail@abhinavvasudevan.com and we will respond within a reasonable time.

6. Security

Traffic is served over HTTPS. Passwords are stored hashed. Requests to user-supplied URLs are executed with SSRF protections that block private IP ranges and internal hostnames. No system is perfectly secure — if you spot a vulnerability, please report it privately to the email above.

7. Children

RedirectChecker is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the product evolves. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Significant changes will be announced on the homepage.
